May 24 is one of the brightest and most cherished holidays in Bulgaria.
On this day, we honor the work of the holy brothers Saints Cyril and Methodius, Bulgarian education and culture, and the power of the written word. It is a celebration that reminds us that language is far more than a means of communication. It is memory, belonging, and a way to preserve our identity.
Throughout Bulgarian history, it was language and writing that helped us preserve ourselves as a people and culture, even in the most difficult times.
Today, the Cyrillic alphabet is the official writing system for more than 250 million people worldwide.
